We love Autumn in Granbury! There is so much to do and see, with events for the whole family planned.  We will see you out and about here in Granbury!

Granbury hosts one of the biggest Oktoberfest celebrations around! Come celebrate Bavarian heritage as Munich comes to the Brazos. Enjoy great beer, traditional food and cultural performances at the annual Oktoberfest centered at Ketzler’s Schnitzel Haus and Biergarten right on Granbury Square. The fun takes place from October 13th to the 15th.

Do you love cars and especially Corvettes? If you do, you will love the Brazos River Corvette Car Show which takes place all day on October 14th, also on Granbury Square.  Corvettes from the 1950’s to today will be featured. Proceeds from the car show go to BRCC’s primary charity, Mission Granbury, and our military veterans.

Pumpkin patches are always great fun for everyone and Granbury has two of the best! First Earth Farms will be hosting “Pickin Pumpkins and Guitars” on Saturday, October 14th.  This event will feature live music from local singer/songwriters, games for the kids, cakewalks and hayrides, in addition to a huge selection of pumpkins!  Admission is free but small fees may apply to extra activities, and pumpkin prices are dependent upon size. Another great pumpkin patch option is Arison Farm on October 14th from noon till 7 PM. There will be live music, $1 hayrides, and lots of pumpkins to choose from.

The Harvest Moon Festival of The Arts is a juried art show with some of the finest artists in the region. It is all happening on October 21st and 22nd on the Granbury Square! This event is hosted by the Historic Granbury Merchants Association, in conjunction with the Granbury Arts Alliance. This festival showcases more than 80 artists. There will also be live entertainment, food booths, and craft booths for children.

During the same weekend as the Harvest Moon Festival, there will also be a quilt show. The Granbury Quilters Guild will be displaying member’s quilts on the pews of the Historic First Presbyterian Church.  These quilts are beautiful, and you will not want to miss this.

For nature lovers, we have just the event; monarch tagging at Acton Nature Center on October 28th from 9 AM to noon. The king of the butterflies is currently in the midst of its epic migration from southern Canada to the mountains of central Mexico. Your journey will include education stations from the migration of the Monarch to the actual capture and release of a live monarch. Volunteers will assist you with how to tag Monarchs. Long pants and closed toed shoes are recommended attire.

Another great activity that combines a love of wildlife and the Halloween season is the Halloween Spooktacular at Fossil Rim Wildlife on October 28th from 4 PM to 6:30 PM. Join the animals at the Children’s Animal Center for some Halloween fun! It will include goats doing tricks for treats, a Jack-o’-lantern contest, a chance to meet some creepy crawlers, face painting and more.  This event is free, but donations are welcome.

Are you into Haunted Houses? We have a great one in Granbury! The GRANSCARY Halloween Haunted House at the Hood County Reunion Grounds takes place on October 27th to 28th and October 30th to 31st from 8:00 pm until 11:00 pm each night. Admission of $15 includes a ticket to the haunted house, and cemetery tours are an additional $5. You can purchase food, soft drinks, take selfies in a real casket, and play carnival like games by purchasing game tickets. This event benefits Hood County’s Christmas for Children.

We have so many fun activities planned in Granbury. We hope you can make Granbury an annual tradition for your fall fun!
