Day 1

On your way into town, stop by Fall Creek Farms to pick fresh seasonal fruits for snacking, or just take a break to stretch your legs at one of Acton Nature Center’s trails, ponds, or wildlife viewing areas. Settle those “are we there yet” jitters with a show! See a matinee production from the Granbury Theatre Company at the Granbury Opera House. Call the box office ahead of time for show times and tickets. After your family gets checked into the hotel, take a tour of the Doll House Museum and a stroll along the Historic Downtown Square. You won’t want to miss the shopping, there’s something for kids of all ages! All of that walking is liable to make your family hungry. Stop in for dinner at the Fillin’ Station, a vintage car themed burger joint, sure to please the whole family! For a fun evening activity take a Ghosts & Legends Tour with Haunted Granbury author, Brandy Herr. If the haunted stuff gives you the heebie-jeebies head over to the Brazos Drive-In for a family flick on the big screen, you won’t even have to leave the car!

Day 2

After a hot breakfast, take a driving tour of the Windmill Farm in nearby Tolar. Then head out to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center to view and interact with 50 species of animals, a variety of tours are available. Before you leave the Glen Rose area, you’ll want to check out Dinosaur Valley State Park, which showcases some of the best preserved dinosaur tracks in the word, as well as two gigantic dinosaur models! If that’s not enough, stop by Dinosaur World near the park entrance explore more than 150 life-size models of some of the most feared predators ever to walk the planet. After your adventurous excursion, enjoy lunch at the Green Pickle on the Glen Rose Square. Head back to Granbury for some more outdoor fun! In the warmer months, relax on the City Beach and soak up some fun in the sun…maybe try your hand at stand up paddleboarding (SUP), with a rental from Waterside Sports.  Any other time of the year go for a brisk walk on the Moments-In-Time Hike & Bike Trail, which includes a playground, disc golf and even includes the Granbury Skatepark. For dinner try Joe’s Pasta & Pizza or Pearl Street Station, either of which is sure to please appetites of any age. On your way out of town, don’t forget to stop at Paradise Bistro on the Square. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center & Dinosaur Valley State Park

A nearby community, Glen Rose, the Dinosaur Capital of Texas, offers fun family adventures at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, Dinosaur World and Dinosaur Valley State Park. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center represents over 1000 animals, 50 species of native and non-native animals living peacefully at the 1,700 acre center. 

Brazos Drive-In Theater

Enjoy a great movie with your family without even leaving your vehicle! This vintage Drive-In features the latest movies on the really big screen, just five minutes from the Historic Square!

 Granbury Opera House

The beautifully restored historic opera house features world class theatre productions year ’round, ranging from family comedies to classic dramas and everything in between.

Dollhouse Museum

Celebrate Americana with an extensive doll collection, including many novelty and history dolls. This museum also offers doll-making demonstrations.

 Windmill Farm

Your family will love viewing windmills at this landmark. Each windmill is representative of actual mills used in this part of Texas, and each has been restored to its original condition.

 Acton Nature Center & Fall Creek Farms

There is much to see and explore at the 74-acre outdoor center which features trails, ponds, wildflowers, wildlife and more. At nearby Fall Creek Farms, families can hand-pick ripe seasonal fruits such as strawberries and peaches.
