This 8-week course focuses on fundamentals of imaginative drawing. Skills learned in this course are essential to kids who have an interest in illustration, animation, game design, and fine art. Each week, students work on drawing skills to create characters, objects, and environments.
Students are given their own set of drawing tools to capture and practice techniques taught in class and around the historic Granbury Square. Because real skill comes from daily practice, tasks are assigned for students to complete on their own to reinforce the techniques being taught and to create good work practices.
With emphasis on visual storytelling, students take their drawings from the idea stage, to storyboarding, to an inked product. By the end of the course, students will have created two short visual stories in the form of a comic strip as well as an accordion book that will be exhibited with a reception at Arts & Letters Bookstore.
The course takes place at Arts & Letters Bookstore for two age groups. High school students meet Monday, and middle schoolers meet Friday. Both groups meet from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.
Course cost: $199 per student (all materials included). Advanced registration required. Call Arts & Letters Bookstore at 682-936-2824 to register your child. Second child, 10% off!
