“Granbury’s History is so unique. Our namesake - General Granbury, the Historic Downtown Square was the first courthouse square in Texas to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 1886 Opera House, the iconic Hood County Courthouse & three-story Clock Tower boasting the Seth Thomas Clockworks, over 40 Historic Texas Landmarks, the Historic Granbury Cemetery, the oral history provided by the Bridge Street History Center, and on and on. Not to mention the Jesse James and John Wilks Booth legends. And let’s not forget our haunted history. Even our city slogan is “Where Texas History Lives.” – Tammy Dooley, Director - Visit Granbury.

“This Charming Texas town is the first "three-time winner" in the historic small towns awards” - Matt Pace USA Today Licensing Manager with EnVeritas Group in Greenville, SC. who congratulated Director Dooley and the City of Granbury.

Chris Coffman, City Manager of Granbury proudly said “The Best Historic Small Town in America Award for the third year in a row is additional confirmation of the hard work being done by the residents, merchants, elected officials, and staff of the City of Granbury. These accolades, especially three years in a row, don’t happen without a spirit of cooperation and unity. I’m very proud of that continued effort. The timing of the announcement couldn’t be better. We are celebrating our 150th birthday by reenacting stories of Granbury’s rich history and sharing its culture with younger generations, newcomers, and those who have known it all their lives.”

“We are so excited! The competition was very tough this year. New cities were competing, and other great cities were voting ‘to win.’ Visit Granbury would like to Thank everyone who voted and made this possible. It is your win to celebrate – Congratulations Granbury.” – Dooley continued.
