Visit Granbury & Granbury Cultural Arts Commission invite you to attend the Cultural Art District Designation Ceremony

The Granbury Cultural Arts Commission will host the Executive Director of the Texas Commission on the Arts, Mr. Gary Gibbs, on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 5:15 pm, on the main stage of the Harvest Moon Festival of the Arts on the historic Granbury Square to provide a proclamation marking the official designation. The Commission and all of Granbury look forward to this opportunity to honor all those whose efforts over the last many years have led to this designation and to welcome Mr. Gibbs to the 45th year of our preeminent juried arts festival for the weekend and thank him for the opportunity represented by the Cultural District designation. We look forward to years of collaboration as we increase the vision for appreciation of all the arts in Granbury and surrounding Hood County. The Harvest Moon Festival is an annual Historic Granbury Merchants Association HGMA.

Granbury Celebrates Cultural District Designation

NEWS RELEASE September 7, 2023 Granbury Celebrates Cultural District Designation Granbury, TX – The City of Granbury is celebrating becoming the most recent Texas city with a designated Cultural District approved by the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA). Granbury’s Cultural District is centered around the historic Square. The District includes many of Granbury’s best amenities including museums, restaurants, wineries, live theater, live music venues, shopping, art galleries and studios, the City Beach Park, Lake Granbury Conference Center, and Granbury’s Visitor Center.

The Granbury Cultural Arts Commission Board consists of seven (7) members at large; four (4) of which must be City of Granbury residents.
This board serves two (2) year terms and members cannot serve more than three (3) consecutive terms. (Applies after the initial staggered terms are completed.)

Duties and Qualifications 
The Commission is tasked with developing a Public Arts Policy and Master Plan to be adopted by the City Council, and presenting a biannual "state of the arts" assessment to the Council. The Commission also works cooperatively with private citizens, foundations, corporations, institutions, and agencies committed to the preservation and development of programs and activities related to the arts and makes recommendations on art-related expenditures.
