History and Education

  • Take a walking (or shopping) tour of the Historic Downtown Square, and don’t forget to stop for lunch.
  • Experience how the county’s less law-abiding residents lived, courtesy of the Hood County Jail Museum, built in 1885.
  • Visit the Granbury Historic Railroad Depot, built in 1914 during the frontier days when railroads were a vital transportation link for towns.
  • The Granbury Light Plant was built in 1903 by the Granbury Grain Milling Company, and has been designated a Granbury Historic Landmark.
  • If you want to learn more about Granbury’s earliest residents, make your first stop at the Hood County Courthouse Museum.
  • The Bridge Street History Center is dedicated to preserving and telling the stories of Granbury and Hood County’s early inhabitants.
  • Visit the Elizabeth Crockett Memorial – the final resting place of Davy Crockett’s widow.
