Baby, It’s Cold Outside

Lake Granbury Goosebump Jump 2020

Visit Granbury, Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), is challenging our Granbury community, civic organizations, charitable organizations, and brave individuals to help us kick-off the Winter-Guest Tourism Season (January - February) by jumping into the frigid waters of Lake Granbury on Saturday, January 4th at City Beach Park. This is the first-ever Lake Granbury Goosebump Jump event.

The event is sponsored by the Granbury Area Lodging Association, The City of Granbury Convention & Visitors Bureau - Visit Granbury along with several corporate sponsors. It is a friendly competition with proceeds raised from the $10 registration fee along with an added $1,000 prize generously provided by the lodging association to be awarded to the 501C3 organization that registers the largest number of participants. “What a great way to kick-off any non-profit organizations’ budget than to start with an instant $1,000 plus!” said Tammy Dooley, Director, City of Granbury Convention & Visitors Bureau – Visit Granbury.

Judges will award trophies to winning participants for the best costume representing Granbury, best overall costume, longest distance traveled, and the oldest participant to take the plunge. You can register family and friends to join your organizations’ team or come as an individual. Registration includes a waiver each participant must sign.

The first 200 participants to register online or in person at the event will receive a souvenir Lake Granbury Goosebump Jump 2020 medal and towel. Registration is available online www.visitgranbury.com/goosebumpjump or pick up applications at Visit Granbury 201 E. Pearl St.White towl and medal with Goosebump Jump logo

The event schedule includes: 10am registration; 11am costume judging; 11:30am jump; and the awards presentation from 12pm-1pm. The event will take place at the Granbury City Beach and will be complete with free hot cocoa, coffee, cookies, and more to be enjoyed in the warm comfort of the Lobby at Hilton Garden Inn after the jump.

Dooley added, “The Goosebump Jump is our kickoff event to our Winter-Guest Tourism Season in Granbury. This is a time when hotels, restaurants, shops and attractions offer special discounts and packages and increase visitor benefits incentivizing them to come to Granbury in January and February. And the forecast? 100% chance of snow.

The Granbury CVB works to promote and enhance the visitor experience increasing tourism economic impact. This new lake event is a way to enhance direct visitor spending to our city and bring the community together to enjoy the fun. Everyone is invited to participate or come cheer on your favorite team.
