December was a whirlwind of sparkling lights, smiling children, beautifully wrapped packages, and delicious treats. Another successful holiday season has drawn to a close, and sometimes the dark nights and cool weather can leave us feeling a bit let down.

Our solution? A girl’s getaway weekend to Granbury! Grab your best girlfriends, pick a date, and we will help you plan a weekend that will leave you refreshed and ready for a spectacular year.

Remember that fashion rules in Granbury whether for the home or your personal style. You and your gal pals can experience the numerous boutiques and specialty shops located on Historic Granbury Square.

After you have selected your group and your dates, the first order of business will be selecting your lodging. Below are three unique options—but you can click on VisitGranbury.com for many more!

At Dinosaur Trail Cabins, you can rent a cabin for your crew! The Jurassic Cabin sleeps up to 8 people for $160 a night, plus a charge of $20 per night for each additional two people. We love the complimentary in-cabin movies, and the seclusion of your own cabin. We also think the family-style gourmet breakfast just a few steps away in the dining room is a wonderful amenity. You are also only two miles from the Granbury square, where you can shop, grab a show at the Opera House, or grab a drink.

The Hilton Garden Inn is a fantastic option for a more traditional hotel experience.  Your group of ladies can relax at the indoor pool and whirlpool, or enjoy a workout at the fitness center. In the summer, you are just steps away from the sandy beach! We love to walk along the hotel’s boardwalk any time of the year; it really feels like you are on vacation. Rates vary depending on time of year.

For a more luxurious stay, one option is the Inn on Lake Granbury. The saltwater pool with a waterfall and beautifully landscaped grounds overlooking lake Granbury are both lovely and peaceful. Guests are treated to a hearty breakfast in the morning and appetizers and wine in the afternoon. There are many accommodation options to choose from, and many come with jetted tubs, fireplaces, lake views, and even large showers with body jets and steam units. Check out their site for rates. All three options are a short distance to dining and shopping.

One of our favorite casual dining options in Granbury is Babe’s Chicken Dinner House. You can enjoy chicken and more including all of the fixings’ served family style. We enjoy the festive atmosphere where the wait staff occasionally breaks out into a line dance. This is a place for you and your gal pals to laugh until your bellies hurt.

For a more fine dining experience, Eighteen Ninety Grill and Lounge is a polished yet casual setting with memorable cuisine. You can also stop by the Eighteen Ninety Marketplace store to pick up some imported culinary goods that include olive oils, spices, wines, and products from all over Europe.

To round out your stay, there are so many entertainment options!

Barking Rocks Winery is open every Friday and Saturday.  You can enjoy the beautiful grounds while sipping your wine during nice weather, and they also have an indoor tasting room for cooler or rainy days. You can stop by C&J Butcher Shop on your way there to grab some goodies for a picnic.

Revolver Brewery is one of the fastest growing microbreweries in Texas, and is a great option for a fun afternoon catching up with your best girls. It is open Saturdays only. You can catch a tour of the brewery, and play lawn games including horseshoes and giant Jenga. You will enjoy some local craft beer and the live music.

A great resting spot during an afternoon of shopping is D’Vine Wine of Granbury, located on the historic square.

For some culinary creativity or a ‘Girls Night In’, take a cooking class with Chef Michael at The Bake Shop.  Fun classes range from “Preparing Brunch” and Regional Cuisines” to “Cocktail Party Appetizers” and more.

There are many live entertainment options, but one of our favorites is A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline at the Granbury Opera House weekends in January.  This tribute to country music’s most enduring superstar traces the legendary girl singer’s rise from her hometown in Virginia to the Grand Ole Opry, Las Vegas and Carnegie Hall.

More fun for a girl’s getaway is the Ghosts and Legends Tour. Learn all about some of Granbury’s spooktacular history. Your tour guides dressed in period attire will regale you with stories as you walk around Granbury Square.
