Everybody loves a birthday party! There is always cake, fun, and games.

In Granbury, we will be celebrating General Granbury’s birthday in a big way with ourSR1_9647-2-copy-669x535.jpg 38thannual birthday party that will include two fun-filled days.

The festivities are taking place on Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20.

The kick-off is at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 19 on the square where local vendors will be selling food, beverages, art, and merchandise. Our favorite purchases each year include homemade breads, handcrafted cheese, and fragrant candles. This year, we may treat ourselves to a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. The vendors will be on the square until 6 p.m. Saturday, and again from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Saturday, March 19:

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, opening ceremonies on the square will include a rendition of the national anthem performed by Michael Alexander. You will not want to miss the delicious cake and ice cream served for all to enjoy!

At 11 a.m., there will be a bean-bag toss contest at the Boys and Girls Club booth.

SR1_1080-copy-750x500.jpgAlso at 11 a.m., you can purchase a beans cup for $2, near Main Stage and Houston Street. Tastings are from Noon to 3 p.m.

At Noon, grab a seat for the General Granbury parade. The route starts at 600 W. Pearl Street, up Bridge Street, and ends at 600 W. Pearl Street. There will be floats from community organizations, local athletes, bands, and so much more!

From 1-3 p.m., you can enjoy live music by Aurora Bleu on the Main Stage. The upbeat jump blues, swing, big band, jazz, and rockabilly sounds will have you on your feet and dancing the afternoon away!

  • 1 p.m. beans
  • 2:15 p.m. ribs

At 1:30, make sure you are on city beach for the Mutton Bustin! It is a sight to behold to watch the little ones ride the sheep!

From 3:15-4:15 p.m. on the Main Stage, you can enjoy a performance by Rita Flores.

At 3:30 p.m., the Outrageous Outhouse Race will start at the corner of Crockett and Pearl Street. Watch teams of three race, with one person inside the outhouse! It is hilarious family fun.

At 4 p.m., the bean eating contest is happening on the Main Stage.

At 4:30 p.m. is the main event, with Bull riding on the beach happening City Beach, off Pearl Street. Get pumped for some exciting 8-second rides!

At 5 p.m., the cook-off awards will be announced for beans and ribs.

The party continues on Sunday, March 20!

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the festival vendors return to the square. You may wish to shop for a piece of art for your home or office, or enjoy a fresh cup of coffee while picking up some gifts for the children in your life.

At Noon, the brisket cook-off starts. Beans cups are sold at Noon for tastings.

At 12:30 p.m. the bean “spittin’” contest is happening on the Main Stage.

At 1:30 p.m., you can show off your bubble blowing skills at the bubble gum blowing contest. This is a fun photo opportunity for the kids.

From 2-4 p.m., you can enjoy live music from DW Blues Band on the Main Stage. The blues, blues rock and classic rock tunes will keep the celebration going. We hope to see people of all ages dancing the afternoon away.

At 2:30 p.m. the cook-off judging starts for brisket.

At 3 p.m., you will want to make sure you are on the beach for the bull riding team challenge at City Beach! The bravest and best cowboys will be back on the bulls for rides that are sure to be thrilling to watch!

At 4:30 p.m., cook-off awards for brisket will be announced, as well as the people’s choice awards for beans.

This will be an exciting, event-filled weekend that the whole family will enjoy. It is a family tradition for many in Granbury, and this year is a great time for you to join us! We want you to make some of your own memories at General Granbury’s birthday party!
